Raw hide cleaning and processing
Before tanning, raw animal skins are cured with salt, soaked in water to remove dirt, and treated with lime to strip away hair and unwanted proteins.
Chemical stabilization and rot-proofing
Raw skins are treated with chromium salts or vegetable tannins. This critical chemical process permanently alters the skin's cell structure, turning it into durable, rot-proof leather.
Coloring, softening, and oiling
The tanned leather is split to the correct thickness, re-tanned for extra flexibility, and deeply dyed to create specific colors such as the rustic, vintage tones seen.
Moisture removal and conditioning
The wet, dyed leather is dried using vacuum or air-hanging methods. Once dry, it is mechanically stretched and massaged (staked) to restore its natural softness and pliability.
Coating, buffing, and surface protection
In the final step, the leather surface is buffed to remove imperfections and coated with protective sealants or waxes to ensure it is scratch-resistant, water-resistant, and ready for manufacturing.
